DESCRIPTION: Up to 8mm in length. A very attractive Mirid bug that is best recognise by the black pronotum that has a narrow collar at the front that is either white or yellow. The scutellum is pale blue, the clavus greenish, the corium coppery-orange and the cuneus a greenish-blue this making for a very striking insect. BEHAVIOUR: A predatory bug that feeds on aphids, mites and bark flies. It also feeds on young catkins and acorns. The species overwinters as an egg .DISTRIBUTION: Frequently and widespread throughout Britain. HABITAT: Found wherever there are good stands of Oak. PERIOD: May to July.
